Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about bidet toilets in Singapore and how to use Bidet Beacon SG.
What is Bidet Beacon SG?
Bidet Beacon SG is a free, map-based tool that helps you find bidet-equipped toilets across Singapore. It displays 584 verified locations on an interactive map with GPS-based sorting, filters by type, and offline support. No account or download required — just open bidetbeacon.com in your browser.
Is Bidet Beacon SG free to use?
Yes, completely free. There is no registration, no login, and no in-app purchases. The app is supported by non-intrusive ads.
How many bidet toilet locations are listed?
We currently track 584 bidet-equipped locations across Singapore, spanning shopping malls, hotels, offices, hawker centres, mosques, and other public facilities. The data is community-sourced and updated regularly as new locations are discovered.
Where does the data come from?
Our location data is community-sourced from @toiletswithbidetsg on Instagram — a grassroots initiative that documents bidet-equipped restrooms across the island. Addresses are geocoded using the OneMap API from the Singapore Land Authority.
How do I find the nearest bidet toilet?
Open Bidet Beacon SG and allow location access when prompted. The app will show your position on the map as a blue dot and automatically sort all 584 locations by distance, so the nearest bidet toilets appear first in the list view.
Can I filter by male or female toilets?
Yes. Use the filter tabs at the top of the list to show only male toilets, female toilets, or hotel restrooms. The map updates instantly, displaying only the markers that match your selection.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Bidet Beacon SG is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that caches all location data and map tiles after the first visit. You can search for bidet toilets even without an internet connection — useful in underground MRT stations or areas with poor signal.
How do I install Bidet Beacon SG on my phone?
On iOS, open bidetbeacon.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then tap "Add to Home Screen". On Android, open the site in Chrome and tap "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen" from the browser menu. The app will appear on your home screen like a native app.
Does Bidet Beacon SG track my location?
No. Your GPS data is processed entirely on your device to calculate distances. It is never sent to any server. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
What types of bidets will I find in Singapore?
The most common type is the handheld bidet spray (sometimes called a bum gun) — a hand-held spray head on a flexible hose mounted next to the toilet. You will also find electronic bidet seats (like TOTO Washlet) in upscale hotels and newer malls, and occasionally integrated bidet toilets in luxury settings. Read our full guide for details on each type.
Are bidets more hygienic than toilet paper?
Yes. Water-based cleansing removes bacteria and residue more effectively than dry paper alone. Dermatologists and proctologists generally recommend bidet use for better personal hygiene. Bidets also reduce skin irritation, which is particularly beneficial for people with sensitive skin or certain medical conditions.
Are bidets better for the environment?
Significantly. The average person uses about 100 rolls of toilet paper per year. Manufacturing toilet paper requires trees, water, and energy. A bidet spray uses a small amount of water per use — far less than the water needed to produce the equivalent amount of toilet paper. Widespread bidet adoption reduces both deforestation and water consumption.
Which Singapore malls have bidet toilets?
Many malls across Singapore have bidet-equipped restrooms, including Jewel Changi Airport, Marina Bay Sands, ION Orchard, VivoCity, Suntec City, Raffles City, Plaza Singapura, Bugis Junction, and many more. Browse the full directory for the complete list organised by region.
Do hotels in Singapore have bidets?
Many mid-range and upscale hotels equip their bathrooms with handheld bidet sprays or electronic bidet seats. Lobby-level restrooms in these hotels are often accessible to the public and feature the same bidet installations as guest rooms. Bidet Beacon SG lists hotel bidet locations separately so you can filter for them.
Can I find bidet toilets near MRT stations?
Select MRT stations on newer lines — particularly the Thomson-East Coast Line and Downtown Line — have restrooms with bidet sprays. Integrated transport hubs that combine bus interchanges with commercial space also sometimes offer bidet-equipped restrooms. Use the GPS feature on Bidet Beacon SG to find the closest bidet toilet to any MRT station.
How do I use a handheld bidet spray?
Hold the spray head, point it downward into the toilet bowl, and press the trigger gently to start the water flow. Test the pressure before directing it. Aim carefully to avoid splashing water outside the bowl. After use, pat dry with a small amount of toilet paper and hang the spray back in its holder.
How can I report a new bidet location?
The best way to contribute is to share the information with @toiletswithbidetsg on Instagram. They verify submissions and maintain the master list that feeds into Bidet Beacon SG. You can also email us at hello@bidetbeacon.com.
What if a listed location no longer has a bidet?
Location data is community-sourced and may occasionally be outdated. If you find that a listed location no longer has a bidet, please let us know at hello@bidetbeacon.com so we can update the database.
Can I save my favourite bidet locations?
Yes. Tap the heart icon on any location to save it as a favourite. Your favourites are stored locally in your browser and appear in a dedicated Favourites tab for quick access. They persist between sessions and work offline too.
Does Bidet Beacon SG work outside Singapore?
Currently, Bidet Beacon SG focuses exclusively on Singapore. All 584 locations are within Singapore. We may expand to other countries in the future based on community demand.
